Besides The Mayor's Race

While this blog and been focusing on Allentown's mayoral race,  lets examine some other contests.  Although there is no contention for the 4 year seats on Allentown City Council,  one of the four candidates will be a new voice on council.  Ed Zucal is a former police officer and has been waiting for the opportunity to serve again.  The only contested race is for the 2 year seat, and here the voters have a unique opportunity.  Lou Hershman is once again willing to serve Allentown with his deep institutional memory and no nonsense approach.  Lou is both a former councilman and controller. The voters are fortunate that he is on the ballot.

The Allentown School Board has five people seeking four seats.  I'm hoping that Robert Walker(R) prevails on Tuesday evening.  Walker is a life long Allentonian, and devoted to helping the district progress.

South Whitehall has the first contested race for commissioner in several election cycles.  Mark Pinsley(D) would add some new blood on that entrenched board, and they certainly need it. I would encourage the voters to cast only one vote in the both the Allentown School Board and South Whitehall Commissioner races.  This under-voting technique amplifies your vote, and their probability of winning.

  1. As an independent voter, who votes more republican than democrat, I feel your selection for Allentown City Council, Zucal-D and Hershman-R, are two people that can help steady city council. I voted for Zucal over the republican candidate for Sheriff, Joe Hanna, because the polish prince Ed Pawlwoski tacitly supported him by directing him to his campaign donor lists. Another problem I have on council is Daryl Hendricks. Heavily supported by the LV Greater Realtors Association and a local real estate investor, [Darter LLC], conflict of interests may prevail. Even more distressing, he originally was so supportive of "Captain Ed", and since July of 2015, [the day the FBI came to rescue the city], he is now the biggest distractor on council. This might not be a bad thing, however, he supports the write-in candidacy of O'Connell, which will kill the cross-over vote for Hyman, and hand over the election to the "rotund one".

  2. I will support Hershman for council and Walker for school board, the rest...what's the difference? Perhaps one is slightly worse or better than the other.Too tired of the city Democrats to care which is which. Frankly they should all be ashamed of what their side has allowed to happen to the city.

  3. Business as usual, candidates run as Democrats, but really aren't. In name only. Couldn't care less.
